The journey
1. Define your starting point
Household, budget, skills and the life you want.
Answer six short steps about your family size, income, savings, time available, experience with land and animals, and the regions you are curious about. Rough numbers are fine — every answer can be changed later.
2. Shape your land brief
What kind of place actually matches your goals.
Mark each requirement as Must, Want, Bonus or Skip: land area, buildings, water, woodland, soil, distance to schools, work and services. The result is a clear checklist you can take to viewings or send to an agent.
3. Run the numbers
Purchase, renovation, running costs and food budget in your currency.
Plan Our Life builds a financial reality check from your inputs and region-specific references: purchase costs and fees, mortgage, heating, insurance, transport, tools, fencing and the household food budget. You see what is sustainable and what needs to change.
4. Plan growing and animals
What to plant, when to plant it, and how much land it takes.
Choose a diet direction and see the land area, labour and cost needed to feed your household. Add animals, orchards, foraging or hunting seasons where they apply for your region. It is a scale check before you sow or buy livestock.
5. Compare places
See where the same budget buys a different life.
Compare regions and countries on cost of living, land prices, residency complexity and climate. The comparison is planning-grade, not a recommendation, but it makes the choice deliberate instead of accidental.
6. Build a phased timeline
A year-by-year path from dream to move-in day.
The journey is split into four phases — dream, prepare, search, move — with concrete tasks and milestones. Tick them off as you go so a multi-year transition does not collapse into one undated wish.
What makes the plan realistic
Sources you can verify
Reference figures come from public authorities and research bodies for your region — SLU, Luke, NIBIO, the EU, FAO, USDA and their equivalents. Every calculation shows whether it is a fact, estimate or assumption.
Your data stays yours
Household data is isolated per account at the database level. You can export or delete everything from Settings / Data controls at any time.
Planning, not advice
Plan Our Life is a structured starting point. Before binding decisions, confirm the details with qualified local professionals: a lawyer, financial adviser, surveyor, agronomist or veterinarian.
Who this is for
Plan Our Life is built for families, couples or small households who are serious about moving to land but do not want to rely on gut feeling. You might be comparing Sweden, Finland, Portugal or New Zealand. You might want a kitchen garden first, or you might be planning a full off-grid transition. Either way, the tool keeps the conversation grounded in facts.
